Rex remained silent.

He would never admit it to Mona but he and his buddies had concluded: Aimee was clingy. Unfortunately for him, Aimee was nothing like the girlfriends he’d had before and not at all like self-assured Mona. Why he compared Mona and Aimee, Rex wasn’t sure, but he did and often.

Rex followed Mona’s movements as she set her designer bag and briefcase on the floor. “Wha… what are you doing?” he croaked suddenly.

“I’m taking off my blazer,” Mona replied. She dumped the jacket on the pile at her feet. “Do you mind?”

I mind very much! he wanted to shout. He thought that after their one-time incident his lust for his hot-to-trot boss would diminish. But their torrid roll in the hay had done nothing except intensify Rex’s desire for the striking, forty-something-year-old Mona. “Watch you don’t catch cold,” he mocked not once attempting to look away from her cleavage. “That shirt looks paper thin.”

Aimee was withholding sex and Rex was reduced to masturbating and that sucked. And now seeing Mona’s short skirt, slutty pumps, and tits that nearly bounced right out of her tight-fitting blouse every time she moved, it was all Rex could do to keep his growing erection in check.

“I’m not one for false modesty,” she said “Besides you’ve seen me with much less clothing.”

“Right,” he said removing his tie and stuffing it in his pocket. “I’ve seen you butt naked.”

Soon as the words left his mouth he regretted them. Thoughts of their animalistic sex stirred his libido. Fuck…he should have kept his distance, should have kept Mona’s at arm’s length. He hadn’t. Now he was knee deep!

Mona nibbled at her bottom lip and regarded him thoughtfully.

“What we had was drunken sex, Mona. That’s all.” Rex spoke suddenly. At that moment he needed to convince himself as much.

She crossed the short distance that separated them. “Drunken sex or not” she said standing before him, “It was a ‘good lay’. Those were your words.”

The Elevator Ride - Part 5 will be posted on Friday. Thanks for reading!

Writing is HARD work. There I said it!

Recently, I had a conversation with a fellow writer about different writing styles. We talked about how some writers can simply sit down on a computer and write on command; I cannot. My pre-writing process can take me ten, fifteen, twenty minutes or more and it usually involves me ‘getting in to character’; I need to connect with the hero and heroine before I can delve into their lives. It is then when I’m emotionally attached that ideas begin to form I’m able to capture the thoughts and the scenes and the story begins to unfold. I can tell you that when I begin to write a story, I too experience the same nervousness that a lot of writers feel. Will anyone read my stuff? Will anyone care about what I have to say? This is the fretful process of a writer, yet, we, I, push forward and write with excitement, optimism, and a lot of discipline. On an amusing note (or maybe not so) one thing that we, writers, often encounter is that non-writers tend to think that writing is easy.
